INSTANT MESSAGING

Adding a group to the Instant Messaging Contact List
Note The features described in this topic are available only if your company has an IBM Lotus Sametime server, and only for Windows versions of IBM Lotus Notes.

IBM Workplace Managed Client users: If your company uses IBM Workplace Collaboration Services for instant messaging, features may differ from the IBM Lotus Sametime instant messaging features described here. For information on instant messaging with Workplace Collaboration Services, see the Instant Contacts section of IBM Workplace Managed Client Help.

You can add groups of people to your Instant Messaging Contact List at any time. Instant messaging uses two kinds of groups:

Adding a public group

Follow these steps to add a public group to your Instant Contact List:

1. Display the Instant Contact List.

2. Click the "Add to Instant Contact List" icon icon showing person's head.

3. Select "Add a public group to the instant contact list."

4. Enter the name of the group exactly as it appears in the Lotus Sametime directory, or click the "Browse Directory" button to search the Lotus Sametime directory.

5. Click Add.

Note Public groups appear in your Instant Contact List only when at least one group member is online.

Adding a private group

You can add a private group whenever you add an individual name to your Instant Contact List.
