To print in the background
By default, Notes prints in the foreground and at least momentarily interrupts other work. You can set printing to occur in the background so you can continue working while Notes performs intensive printing tasks.

1. From the menu, choose File - Preferences - User Preferences.

2. Under Additional Options, select "Process Print requests as a background task."

3. Click OK.

Macintosh users
In OS X background printing is always on. In OS 9, choose File - Print, and in the drop-down menu whose default is "General," choose Background Printing. For more information, refer to your Macintosh OS Help.
