To change how you empty the trash folder in non-Mail applications
In this release of Notes, the frequency with which the Trash folder in Mail is emptied is set in preferences in the Mail database. Applications other than Mail may also have a Trash folder; for those that do, this User preference specifies how to empty trash.

Note If you don't see a "Soft Delete expire time" in the mail preferences, your organization may have modified the design of your mail database, and you may need to use this User preference to manage your Trash folder. Ask your administrator for assistance.

1. From the menu, choose File - Preferences - User Preferences.


2. From the drop-down menu under "For trash that is not emptied at a timed interval, empty trash folder," choose one of these options:
ClickTo make Notes
Prompt me during database closeAsk whether you want to clear the mail in the trash folder each time you close your mail database.
Always during database closeAutomatically clear the mail in the trash folder each time you close your mail database.
ManuallyCancel automatic clearing of the trash folder.
