End user installation
To install Domino Access For Microsoft Outlook (DAMO), you need to know the following:
If you are a member of the Windows Administrator group, you can choose whether to do a single user or a multi-user installation on a workstation. If you are not a member of this group, the installation is a single user install by default.
There are three parts to installing DAMO:

1. Configure Microsoft Outlook (assumes you already have Microsoft Outlook installed).

2. Install Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook.

3. Create a user profile (you need to create a DAMO profile, even if you already have one in place for Outlook).

Part 1 -- Configure Microsoft Outlook
You must Configure Outlook using these steps or Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook will not install properly.

Outlook 2000 users -- if you configured Outlook for Internet Only support, you must reconfigure Outlook for Corporate or Workgroup. To reconfigure Outlook, run Outlook and select Options - Mail Services - Reconfigure Mail Support. You may be required to supply your Microsoft Office install CD for this operation.

1. Set Microsoft Outlook as the default mail program. For example, open the Control Panel and choose Internet Options. Select the Programs Tab - E-mail Option, and then select Microsoft Outlook. (This path may vary slightly depending on which Windows OS you are using and how you have your system set up.)

2. If this is a new installation of Microsoft Outlook, you must launch the client to complete the installation process of Microsoft Outlook. From the Start menu, select Microsoft Outlook and accept the user name. Then do one of the following:

3. While Outlook is open, select Tools - Options - Mail Services and select the option "Prompt for a profile to be used."

Part 2 -- Install DAMO
1. Execute the Setup Program.

2. If you are a member of the Windows Administrator group, choose whether to do a single user or a multi-user install on a workstation. If you are not a member of this group, the installation will be a single user install.

3. (Optional) Select the Single Logon Feature to synchronize your Notes ID password with your Windows password. When passwords are synchronized, you can change either password and the change will be made to both passwords.

Part 3 -- Create a user profile for DAMO
You cannot create a DAMO profile using the Outlook Setup Wizard. You must use the following procedure.

1. From the Start menu, choose Programs - IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook - Create New MAPI Profile.

2. For "Your Name," enter your Domino common user name. For example, John Smith not jsmith/sales/acme.

3. For "Domino server name," enter the name or the IP address of your mail server.

4. If you installed a multi-user version, and you want your Data directory to be in a different directory than your program files, enter a path for your mail files in the "Data Directory" field. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\jsmith\DAMOData or C:\DAMO jsmith.


5. If DAMO does not find your Notes ID in your Person Document on the Domino server, you will be prompted for one. Type the path or browse to locate your Notes ID.

6. (Optional) Copy your Notes ID file to your Data directory. (It is always good to have a backup copy of your ID file.)

7. Your DAMO profile will be created.

After the installation process is complete, you can launch the Outlook client. Select the profile that refers to the user name just configured during setup. If the mail file contains significant amounts of data, it may take a while to make this data available within Outlook.
