USER AND SERVER CONFIGURATION

Client policy lock-down
Use client policy lock-down to specify which policy settings can be modified by end users. The lock-down feature provides a central location, the policy settings document, from which you can set and lock down user settings. Client policy lock-down is especially useful for implementing company procedures and increasing security. The client policy lock-down feature is available in the desktop policy settings document and the mail policy settings document. In the desktop policy settings document, client policy lock-down is set on a per-tab basis, not on a per-field basis. The desktop policy settings document contains the field "Allow users to change the settings on this tab" on each tab for which policy lock-down is available. In the mail policy settings document, client policy lock-down is set on a per-field basis. The mail policy settings document contains a check box with the field label "Allow user to change" next to any field that you can lock.

Domino uses dynamic configuration to deploy policy settings. When end-users authenticate with their home servers, information stored in the policy settings documents is deployed (pushed down) to the end-users. If one or more fields or tabs is set to allow end-user modifications, dynamic configuration does not overwrite those policy settings. If a field or tab does not allow end users to modify the settings, dynamic configuration deploys policies using the settings designated by the administrator who set up the policy settings document.
